Currently have too much was in ears. Affecting hearing. (Too much ear wax a perennial problem in my family.). Was in chemists looking at OTC ear drops - urea or olive oil? Mentioned it to my sister who said she had heard microsuction was very effective.
There is a place near me does it and been thinking about trying it. Is it effective, does it hurt? Problem with drops is it is slow process and they make hearing more muffled while waiting for them to work.

I have mine done about twice a year. It's brilliant. I was fed up with waiting for appointments and endless ear drops. You can ring for an appointment and have them done next day. Research your practice properly, mine is an NHS audiology who has set up a private practice. Costs £60 for both ears. It's worth it to me to have it done quickly.
If you're anywhere near Manchester I can give you the name. My son also used one in Leeds.

My dad has someone who comes to their house to do it, for the same reasons. He wears hearing aids and the wax build up has been a big problem. Not painful at all (and Mum reckons he probably weighs about 3lb lighter after having it done  _pale_ )

Yes.
Really good. I had to have it done privately as our GPs syringe system broke and I had an audiology appointment which required wax free ears
It didn't hurt - tickled a bit and is a lot less uncomfortable than a syringe. It cost me £70 for both ears but I got a half hour appointment when I wanted it plus free follow up - they had to have another go at one ear.
As said I thought it worth the money for the convenience and service. That's not a go at my GPs practice as they are great - but rather overrun.

I had it done last year while on holiday in Wales. It was brilliant and worked beautifully. Would do it again if I needed it.

I had my ears syringed at my GP surgery by the nurse. No pain, in fact very pleasant and cleaned my ears perfectly

I have had ear irrigation in the past and since then have had microsuction in hospital as I have narrow ear canals, it is really good.
I recommend warm olive oil in the ears occasionally to help stop wax build up and you have to use it for a week or two before microsuction to loosen the wax.
